Prof. Thomas Haipeter (Institute Work, Skills and Training at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany)

Thomas Haipeter is born in 1967 in Bielefeld (Germany). He studied sociology, economy and history in Bielefeld and has finished his PhD “Codetermination at VW” at the University of Bremen in 1999. In 2000 he started to work as a researcher at the Institute Work, Skills and Training at the University of Duisburg-Essen. There he has written his habilitation “Derogations of Collective Bargaining Agreements” in 2009. In 2010 he became head of the research department Working Time and Work Organization. His research interests are labour and employment relations, wages, working times and work organisation. He has published several papers in English, among them “The interests of white-collar workers and their representation in the German manufacturing sector. In: Industrial relations journal 47 (4), pp 304–321” and “Profit sharing in the German metalworking and electrical engineering industries.
